Part of looking attractive is having a healthy smile. Many people who are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth aren’t aware of the numerous ways cosmetic dentistry could improve their smiles. Cosmetic dentistry can correct:
- Crooked teeth
- Spaces between teeth
- Stained or discolored teeth
- Chipped, broken or missing teeth
- Gummy smiles
Drs. Ernie, Cindy or Scott Sheppard will create a customized dental treatment plan just for you, based on your age, your goals, and your financial comfort level.
Porcelain Veneers
Imagine a whiter, more brilliant smile! A conservative cosmetic procedure, porcelain veneers make a dramatic difference in the appearance of your teeth. If you have chipped teeth, crooked teeth, spaces between your teeth, or dull, stained teeth, porcelain veneers may be the perfect solution for you. Made to resemble real teeth in size, shape, and color, dental veneers are bonded to misaligned, damaged, or discolored teeth to improve their appearance.
Drs. Ernie, Cindy or Scott Sheppard will skillfully bond and place thin shells of porcelain to your teeth, creating a straight, brilliant smile that enhances your appearance and your self-esteem. Just a few appointments are all that separate you from the beauty and self-confidence that come from a brilliant smile.
Tooth Whitening
You can have the confidence that comes from a bright, white smile. Even if you are satisfied with the alignment and spacing of your teeth, a take-home tooth whitening treatment from Sheppard Family Dental Care may be the final step toward enhancing your smile. This home tooth whitening kit, customized by our Doctors, is safe, effective, and long lasting.
Your teeth whitening kit involves a special tray that is customized to fit over your teeth. When you receive your tray, you will also receive expert advice about how long you should wear the tray each day. The process will take approximately two weeks and will leave you with a dazzling, bright smile.
Clear Braces
You can straighten your teeth without anyone even knowing you’re undergoing treatment. Thanks to clear aligners, traditional metal braces are no longer necessary. Drs. Ernie, Cindy or Scott Sheppard will custom design a series of aligners for you that will gradually shape your smile in small increments. Every few weeks, new aligners are delivered to continue aligning your teeth. There are no uncomfortable brackets or wires, and the average treatment is often shorter than metal braces at nine to 15 months.
Clear aligners are removable, which allows you to enjoy the foods you love without having to worry about the constant brushing and flossing associated with metal braces. With clear aligners, you can straighten your teeth comfortably and effectively, all while maintaining your beautiful smile.
Porcelain Bridges
When teeth are missing, your smile undergoes significant changes. Missing teeth cause you to chew differently and may cause mouth pain. As your remaining teeth work to compensate for the loss, gaps and spaces form that only make the situation worse. Our Doctors can create a lifelike, functional porcelain bridge to correct your smile, to restore your bite, and to alleviate your discomfort.
Bridges are anchored to existing teeth or crowns on either side of the missing tooth. They can only be affixed or removed by a dentist, and are a long-term, restorative solution to your damaged smile.
Porcelain Crowns
You can erase years of wear and tear with porcelain crowns. Customized exclusively for you at Sheppard Family Dental Care, porcelain crowns cover broken, cracked, or discolored teeth. Crowns are a durable, strong, and long-lasting method of enhancing both the look and functionality of your smile. After some preparation of the tooth or teeth that will receive the crown(s), Drs. Ernie, Cindy or Scott Sheppard will position a custom-made, life-like porcelain crown over your damaged tooth, restoring and rejuvenating your oral health. Crowns are specially fitted to restore the look and functionality of your smile. If you have pain when chewing or if you experience temperature sensitivity, ask Dr. Sheppard if crowns are right for you.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
If you need a filling for a cavity, or if you are embarrassed about your smile because of dark amalgam fillings, you may be a good candidate for tooth-colored fillings. When decay and bacteria are removed from a cavity, the area is then filled with a material that will seal and protect the structure of your tooth. With this procedure, your risk for further decay will be minimized.
A tooth-colored filling has a special tooth-colored resin that can restore teeth to an attractive, healthy state. Composite resins present several advantages to the patient compared with traditional silver fillings.
Our local dentists are able to customize the material in a wide range of shades to match your natural tooth color, and they can also be molded and sculpted to create almost any shape or contour. The resin is bonded to your tooth. Then a seal is formed to reduce the chance of leakage, which is common with silver fillings.
